introspection
connection
about
as a yoga and meditation teacher and psychologist (M.Sc.), I am motivated by a desire to understand human feeling, thinking, and behavior — both suffering as well as the conditions for joy and flourishing.
ananda is a sanskrit word that describes a state of deep contentment, bliss and harmony that arises from the self. in yoga, this is said to be our true state. my aim is to provide a container for you to meet yourself deeply. I integrate methods from buddhist psychology, yoga philosophy and modern psychotherapy.
my yoga and meditation practice has been an important part of my life for many years. this lifelong path constantly reveals new opportunities for introspection and wisdom. my practice supports me in anchoring stability, lightness, equanimity and psychological flexibility in my life. for me, yoga is a path to harmonious connection – with myself, with the world, and between body and mind.
my practice and teaching is based on hatha yoga practices with a strong influence from the ashtanga vinyasa and ghosh lineages, as well as tibetan buddhism.
I am immensely grateful for my teachers who inspire me with their way of living and embodying yoga.
you can practice with me and other great teachers from the Sacred Fig community on FigFlix.
What we practice is who we become
1 Why
loneliness is one of the biggest threats to mental health and well being. we desperately need connection instead of separation; sensitivity instead of numbness; compassionate action instead of disengagement. I see yoga and meditation as long-term practices for purposeful living in connection with the world around us.
2 What
I teach yoga asana, pranayama and mindfulness, compassion and contemplation based meditation as tools to foster a return to the self and create a soft, non-judgmental landing space for introspection. over time and with practice, these practices build resources: a strong mind-body connection; a clear, resilient and discerning mind and a foundation of kindness, compassion and love that radiates out into the world.
3 How
the mind and the body are malleable. by the principles of neuroplasticity, the brain reorganizes through repeated experience and continuous practice. thus, change is always available to us.
